Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about how Inkable checks, fixes, and documents accessibility across authoring tools, LMS course materials, and PDF workflows. Need more help? Reach out to support@inkabledocs.com.

Inkable checks presentation titles, the primary language, slide titles, meaningful slide content, reading order, image and figure alt text, table headers and descriptions, decorative visuals, merged cells, layout tables, lists, empty text boxes, font size, color contrast, and color-only meaning. The report separates issues that can be addressed in the workflow from findings that need author review.

Slides have a visual layout and an underlying object order. Inkable reads the slide element inventory, compares the current sequence with an estimated meaningful sequence, and uses AI review for likely mismatches. Overlapping or design-heavy slides may also receive visual review. The result identifies the affected slide and explains whether a fix is available or manual review is safer.

Some reading-order findings can receive an approved AI-assisted fix. The workflow protects grouped and design elements, validates the proposed order, and avoids making an unsafe change when the slide's intent is ambiguous. Recheck the presentation after applying a fix, especially when the slide contains overlapping objects or complex diagrams.

Yes. The Slides workflow checks the presentation title separately from the title on each slide. It can identify missing, generic, or visually present but poorly structured titles and provide a supported fix when the intended title can be determined.

Inkable checks images, figures, and diagrams for missing, generic, and low-quality descriptions. Decorative images and figures can be treated as artifacts so they do not interrupt the meaningful reading sequence. AI-assisted suggestions are available, but authors should review complex diagrams, charts, grouped figures, and decorative status.

Yes. It reviews table headers, table descriptions, merged or complex cells, and whether a table is being used only for layout. Tables that communicate data need clear relationships and a useful summary. Merged-cell and other complex-structure findings may require manual restructuring rather than a one-click fix.

Yes. The Slides checks include text and background contrast, color-only meaning, text that may be too small in presentation mode, empty text boxes, and list usage. Findings explain when to add labels or other cues so meaning is not communicated by color or visual formatting alone.

Inkable can generate a remediated PDF from a Slides presentation using source metadata for titles, language, reading order, figures, and tables. Treat the export as part of a PDF/UA-aligned workflow and review any remaining manual findings before publishing; no automated checker can determine every content or instructional decision.

The add-on requests permission to see, edit, create, and delete Google Slides presentations so it can read the open deck and apply fixes you approve. Inkable's permissions documentation says it accesses presentations when you run the add-on or start an action from the dashboard, and that it does not sell your data or train models on it.
